Tips about East Point crime could be valuable as police partner with Crime Stoppers Atlanta


EAST POINT - Law enforcement leaders here hope a new program with Crime Stoppers Atlanta leads to more tips to solve East Point crimes.

With this new initiative, people who offer tips about crime in East Point that ends with the arrest and indictment of alleged criminals can receive up to $2,000.

The information can be left anonymously by phone to the East Point police, a special tip line with Crime Stoppers Atlanta, online or by texting.

Crime Stoppers Atlanta received in 2012 more than 2,770 tips, leading ot the 171 arrests and 249 cases cleared. Some $102,000 was paid out, according to a news release.

East Point, January 22, 2013- Chief Woodrow Blue and the East Point Police Department has partnered with Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta in an effort to receive anonymous tips on crimes which have occurred in the City of East Point. A reward of up to $2,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for crimes occurring in the City of East Point.Any information on a case can be submitted anonymously to the East Point Police Department at 404-761-2177, Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS(8477), onlinewww.crimestoppersatlanta.org or by texting CSA and the tip to CRIMES(274637). Persons do not have to give their name or any identifying information to be eligible for the reward of up to $2,000.
